Abstract:

The importance of employment worldwide is quite great. The contributions of employment are multifaceted. In economic terms, employment contributes to economic growth and the increase of social welfare by reducing poverty and income inequality. In social terms, employment strengthens social ties, reduces crime rates and plays a very important role in creating a healthy society. Tourism is a very important sector in terms of reducing unemployment rates. With its labor-intensive structure, the tourism sector is extremely dependent on the human element. Incentives made within the scope of state policies in the tourism sector have positively affected employment. When the tourism potential of Van province is fully evaluated, employment in the province will increase accordingly. The aim of the study is to examine the state policies in the change of the employment structure of the accommodation sector in tourism and to examine the contribution of Van Evliya Çelebi Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Practice Hotel operating in Van province to employment in terms of provincial tourism. In the research, Van Evliya Çelebi Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School is expressed as Van Evliya Çelebi MTAL and Practice Hotel is expressed as UO. In the research where the Grounded Theory approach from qualitative research designs was followed, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 5 managers and 20 personnel working at Van Evliya Çelebi MTAL UO determined with the purposeful sampling method. The data were subjected to coding analysis and as a result of the analysis; a theoretical model consisting of 3 themes was obtained as; 1. Factors Affecting Employment, Factors Affecting Economy, Factors Affecting Qualified Workforce. The objectives of the study are; the establishment of tourism culture in Van province with a young population and the information of people receiving education in tourism education institutions about employment opportunities. With this study, it is aimed to determine the relationship between tourism sector and employment with the data to be obtained and to create awareness about the importance of tourism.
