Abstract:

Due to the increasing need for energy, the foreseeable reserves of fossil fuels and the damages they cause to the environment, the production of energy sources that are alternative and environmentally friendly to fossil fuels is the greatest dream of both scientists and all researchers. Among many renewable energies, hydrogen is used as an energy source in the future in terms of its abundance and usefulness in the world. Suitable catalysts are needed to make the hydrogen stored in both metal hydrides and metal borohydrides available in a short time and under favorable conditions. In this thesis, four different catalysts (Ru (0), Ni2-P, Ni-PB and La-Ni-Mo-B) are used to obtain H2 from the hydrolysis of KBH4 optimally, and these catalysts with three different support materials (TO2, CeO2) and CNT). Synthesis of metal boron catalysts was prepared by chemical reduction and precipitation methods and NaBH4 was used as reducing agent. First, the optimum metal fractions of the catalysts were determined and then four different parameters (KOH concentration, catalyst amount, KBH4 concentration and temperature effect) were examined for the pure and doped states of each catalyst. In addition, in order to increase the efficiency of these catalysts, hydrogen production performances of KBH4 hydrolysis were investigated after being subjected to microwave and plasma in the presence of different gases for a certain period of time. The synthesized supported and unsupported catalysts were characterized by BET, SEM, XRD and FT-IR devices. Finally, KBH4 hydrolysis kinetics and activation energy were determined in the presence of supported and unsupported catalysts. Keywords: Catalyst, Hydrogen energy, Hydrolysis, KBH4.
