Abstract:In this thesis, new catalytic materials that produces hydrogen via hydrolysis reaction from ethylenediamine-bisborane (EDB), which has been studied in recent years and is considered as an important B-N derivative, were prepared and characterized. For this purpose, functional graphene derivatives such as graphene oxide (GO), amine functionalized graphene oxide (GO-NH2), sulfonic acid functionalized graphene oxide (GO-SO3H), carboxylic acid functionalized graphene oxide (GO-COOH) supported Pt (0), Pd (0) and Ru (0) nanoclusters were synthesized. Among the prepared metal nanoclusters, the most effective catalytic material as sulfonic acid functionalized graphene oxide supported Pd (0) nanoclusters (Pd@GO-SO3H) in the production of hydrogen from EDB by hydrolysis was determined. Advanced analytical and spectroscopic methods such as FT-IR, ICP-OES, UV-vis, Raman, XRD, XPS, SEM, TEM, TEM/EDX, HRTEM and 11B-NMR have been used for the characterization of prepared EDB, solid support materials and Pd@GO-SO3H nanocatalyst. Initial TOF value of Pd@GO-SO3H nanocatalyst in hydrogen production from EDB by hydrolysis was calculated as 136 min-1. It has been determined that this TOF value is quite high compared to the related studies in the literature. Finally, by performing catalytic reactions at different temperatures, activation parameters (Ea: Activation Energy; ΔH#: Enthalpy of Activation; ΔS#: Entropy of Activation) for the hydrolysis reaction were calculated using the related equations.
