Abstract:

The most recent example of international migration, which constituted one of the most important agenda items of international relations in the post-World War II period, was experienced when the Arab Spring leapt into Syria. The events in the country have become an international crisis with the intervention of regional and global actors.One of the biggest outcomes of this crisis is the Syrians who migrated massively. Turkey has been the first destination for Syrian refugees. Turkey has followed an "open door" policy towards refugees from Syria..As a result of the the ongoing Syrian civil war, which began in 2011 ,the number of Syrians in Turkey is expressed in millions.As of January 2020, the number of Syrians in Turkey is over 3.5 million.At this point, the migrants from Syria. are not just an issue with a humanitarian dimension. Syrians in the country have been one of the main dynamics of drastic changes in all areas of Turkey. With the Law on Foreigners and International Protection (YUKK) enacted in 2014, Syrians were given the status of "temporary protection" .In the context of this status, Syrians education, health, social and other areas of basic needs are met by Turkey in cooperation with national and international institutions. The Joint Action Plan (OEP) signed with the EU in 2016 is also an important step in this context. The theoretical framework of this study is the International Political Economy (UPE), which became an academic field of study after the 1970s. Offering interdisciplinary field of study,UPE examines a phenomenon in terms of three disciplines (politics, economics, sociology) and three actors (state, market, society).The purpose of this thesis is; It is to analyze the effects of mass migrations on Turkey with the Syrian civil war through three areas within the scope of UPE. Their interactions with each other in political, economic and social areas and what these effects on Turkey were analyzed in this study within the scope of UPE. In addition to books and articles on the subject, definitions and statistical data used by national and international organizations are included in the analysis process. It is not sufficient in terms of the scope of the issue to explain the effects of Syrians who have come to Turkey since 2011 with a single discipline.Because any political decision taken by Turkey on Syrians has had economic and social effects and repercussions.The opposite is also the case. The political and social implications of any development in the economic and social areas related to Syrians also emerge.
