Abstract:

In this master's study, a new catalytic material that produces hydrogen by hydrolysis reaction from ethylenediamine-bisborane (EDB), which has been studied in recent years and evaluated as an important B-N derivative, was prepared and characterized. For this purpose, amine functionalized reduced graphene oxide supported Rh (0) nanoclusters (Rh@GO-NH2) were ex-situ prepared and their catalytic performance in hydrogen production by hydrolysis reaction from EDB was investigated. The prepared EDB and Rh@GO-NH2 nanocatalyst were characterized by using advanced analytical and spectroscopic methods such as FT-IR, ICP-OES, XRD, XPS, TEM, TEM/EDX, HRTEM and 11B-NMR. Initial TOF value (37.6 min-1) of nanocatalyst was found to be quite high compared to literature studies. The reusability performances of Rh (0) nanoclusters were also investigated in hydrogen production by hydrolysis of EDB and the catalyst was found to be fairly stable. Finally, by performing catalytic reactions at different temperatures, activation parameters for the catalytic reaction (Ea: Activation Energy; ΔH #: Activation Enthalpy; ΔS #: Activation Entropy) were calculated using the relevant equations.
