Abstract:

In this master study, we report the preparation, characterization and the investigation of the catalytic activities of basic solid support, MgO, supported metal(0) nanoparticles in the complete dehydrogenation of hydrazine-borane. The basic solid support materials stabilized metal(0) nanoparticles were prepared storing the supporting surface formed by the metal salt in the solution phase and then reduced using a suitable reducing agent such as NaBH4 at room temperature. The prepared metal(0) nanoparticles were isolated as solid materials and characterized by using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer (ICP-MS), powder X-rays diffraction (P-XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) tecniques. The catalytic activity of basic solid materials stabilized metal(0) nanoparticles and the kinetics of hydrogen generation from the complete dehydrogenation of hydrazine-borane were studied depending on catalyst concentration, substrate concentration and temperature. The rate laws and the activation parameters (Arrhenius activation energy, Ea; activation enthalpy, ΔH#; and activation entropy, ΔS#) for catalytic dehydrogenation reaction of hydrazine-borane were calculated from the obtained kinetic data.
