Abstract:Hydrogen holds a significant position among clean energy sources, and the development of innovative methods is essential for sustainable energy production. In this study, the synthesis and characterization of NH₂-modified UiO-66 (UiO-66-NH₂) metal–organic framework (MOF) and UiO-66-NH₂-supported Pd (0) nanoparticles were carried out. The catalytic performance of the obtained Pd@UiO-66-NH₂ catalyst in hydrogen production from ethylenediamine–bisborane (EDB) was investigated. During the synthesis of the catalyst, Pd (0) nanoparticles were loaded onto the UiO-66-NH₂ MOF structure via the impregnation–reduction technique. Due to its high surface area and favorable dispersion properties, the UiO-66-NH₂ structure served as an ideal matrix for supporting Pd (0) nanoparticles. The synthesized structures were characterized using ICP-OES, SEM, XPS, TEM, TEM-EDX, XRD and FT-IR techniques. The performance of the UiO-66-NH₂-supported Pd (0) nanoparticles in the catalytic hydrolysis of EDB was evaluated, and various parameters were examined to optimize the reaction conditions. The results demonstrated that the UiO-66-NH₂-supported Pd (0) nanoparticles exhibited high catalytic activity in hydrogen production from EDB, and the findings are expected to contribute significantly to the development of sustainable energy resources and hydrogen production technologies.
