Proje Özeti

Our Federation was established on 22/12/2000 as the Turkish Mentally Handicapped Sports Federation. Prime Ministry Authority granted the federation administrative and financial autonomy on 22/05/2006. The name of the Mentally Handicapped Sports Federation of Turkey was changed to the Turkish Special Athletes Sports Federation on 10.02.2009. Turkey Special Athletes Sports Federation (TOSSFED) includes1679 coaches in 81 provinces of Turkey to provide sports activities for intellectually disabled individuals. The coaches of TOSSFED work entirely on the basis of VOLUNTEERING and do not get any wages. The Federation contributes to the social inclusion and equal opportunity of intellectually disabled individuals by participating in sports activities. It includes more than 10,000 athletes in local, national and international sports organizations. Turkish Special Athletes Sports Federation; With its institutionalized structure, qualified sports staff, scientific and innovative approaches, it creates a richness of life and permanent elements thanks to the sports service for our special athletes. In addition, as the only institution that has the authority to determine, regulate and supervise all national and international activities in Turkey; To create an archive of private athletes, to increase the recognition of private athletes in cooperation with schools, clubs, written and visual media, all individuals and organizations, to ensure their integration with the society and to represent them at the highest level in international activities. Our Federation currently operates in 15 sports branches. It is aimed to increase the number of this in the near future. Our federation tries to increase communication and cooperation by organizing various seminars for coaches, families and athletes. In addition, it provides financial support and equipment support to participants for sports competitions. Our federation signed a protocol with the Ministry of Education in 2015 to touch the lives of more intellectually disabled individuals and their families. Within the scope of this protocol, sports activities of mentally disabled individuals in special education schools are supported. Our federation has a great popularity on VIRTUS, which is the umbrella organization of Private Athletes Sports Federations in the world. This popularity comes from the active activities and success of our federation.
