Öz Bu çalışmanın amacı; mobilya endüstrisindeki işletmelerin en önemli problemlerinden biri kabul edilen kalifiye personel ihtiyacı ve meslek yüksekokullarındaki eğitim ile mobilya sektörünün personel ihtiyaç durumu analiz edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın yöntemi; sektörün durumu bugüne kadar yapılan bilimsel çalışmalar, sektör raporları, mesleki yayınlar incelenerek, mobilya dekorasyon eğitimi ise örneklemdeki mevcut dersler ve uygulamaları ele alınmıştır. Türkiye'de ön lisans düzeyinde eğitim veren Mobilya ve Dekorasyon Bölümlerine ait, bilgilere yer verilmiştir. Bulgular bölümünde; işletmelerin ve eğitim kurumlarının problemleri ve çözümsüzlüğün temel nedenleri ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, okulların tanıtımının yetersizliği, işletme ve eğitim kurumlarının işbirliğinin yeterli düzeyde olamaması, mobilya sektörünün problemlerine yönelik ilgililerin ve yetkili kurumların yeterli sayıda ve benzer konularda projeler üretemediği ortaya çıkmıştır. Staj sürecinin yeterince iyi değerlendirilemediği düşünülmektedir. Bu çalışmada eğitim yöneticilerine, Üniversitelere, işletmelere ve insan kaynakları yöneticilerine yönelik önerilere yer verilmiştir.

Abstract The aim of this study is that employment situation of qualified personnel which is accepted as one of greatest problems in companies having activity on furniture sector, education at vocational school of higher education and personnel need of furniture sector were tried to be analysed. Sector's situation related to this aim, scientific studies, sector reports and vocational publications were reviewed, on sample furniture and decoration training was reviewed through current courses and applications. Teaching in the undergraduate level in Turkey belongs to Furniture and Decoration Department, information has been included. Thus, it was tried to reveal main reasons why companies and education institutions could not have reached solutions with problems. Consequently, the following cases emerged that schools were not able to introduce efficiently, relations between companies and education institutions were not at efficient level, relevant persons and institutions could not produce projects in efficient numbers and on relevant issues about the sector's problem. On this study, suggestions related to education managers and human resources managers of companies were involved.
