Özet:
Enzootic bovine leukosis virus (EBLV) infection; loss of efficiency, and high costs of treatment in livestock or sent to slaughter without adequate development will cause economic losses. In the province of Muş, there has been no previous study on the seroprevalence of BLV infection. The aim of this study is to determine the possible presence of BLV and its role in yield losses in the enterprises in the region and to determine the control measures for this infection. For this purpose, 300 blood serum samples were taken from cattle aged 6 months and older in different districts of Muş province. The blood serum samples taken were tested for the presence of BLV-specific antibodies by the agar gel immunodiffusion test (AGID) and competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (C-ELISA) methods. As a result of the study, all 300 blood serum samples were found to be negative in terms of the presence of BLV-specific antibodies in the AGID and C-ELISA tests. In conclusion, it has been demonstrated for the first time that cattle in the Muş region do not have BLV infection.
