The concept of love has existed in the lives of human beings since the earliest times. Therefore many philosophical, literary, scientific and sufistical works have been written on love. In the same way, the evaluations on love have also been reflected in classical literature, and poets have produced works in the genres of ghazal, qasida, mathnawi on the subjects of both metaphorical love and divine love with the trinity of love, lover/aşiq and beloved/maşûq. One of these is the poem titled ‘Aşiq and Maşûq by Sheikh Abd al-Rahman Akhtapaî with the pseudonym Rûhî, one of the pioneer poets of the last period of Classical Kurdish Literature. Rûhî wrote this poem in the style of a munazarah. The poet handled the aşiq and the maşûq in a love-based dialogue through the art of tashkhis and in this respect, he put forth a successful example of mu‘ashshaqah. Rûhî's poem, written in the form of murabba, has been evaluated for the first time in this study within the framework of musha‘arah. In this article, it is aimed to make a literary analysis of the poem, which is handled with a love-oriented dialogue. In this analysis, the modern commentary method has been used as a way, and each clause has been discussed together with its lexicon, literary arts, sufistical and literary interpretation. At the end of the study, it has been seen that the poem ‘Aşiq and Maşûq is presented with a content that has deep sufistical and philosophical aspects in literary aspects.
