Handicrafts, which are an indicator of the culture formed in Anatolia, appear as a reflection of the historical past of the society, socio-economic activities, traditions and customs. In this respect, handicrafts do not only have an artistic value but also reflect the social structure of the society to which they belong. It is possible to see in the center and villages of Tunceli, as in other regions, where work has been intensely carried out from the past to the present. Nowadays, with the development of technology, it has partially reduced the interest in handicrafts. Handicrafts are still valid in the villages of Anatolia. Among these, it is possible to say that the samples made of wood are used extensively in line with the data that can come up today. Wood has been one of the important materials preferred in architecture, handicrafts, artistic activities and daily use items throughout the history of humanity in terms of aesthetic features such as its warmth, texture and color. One of the biggest reasons why we use wood in all areas of life is that it is easy to process and sustainable and therefore its raw material is abundant in nature. The wood, which is preferred for its ease of processing, cannot survive due to moisture, microorganisms and climatic conditions. Within the scope of the study, the material, construction technique and ornamentation features of a group of wooden works determined as a result of the researches made in Tunceli center and its villages. It is aimed to determine its place and importance in our traditional culture. As a result, the measurements of the works included in the study were examined on-site and their photographs were taken. The material type, construction technique, decorative features and aesthetics of the studied works have been studied comprehensively. Our main goal is to catalog the works of art in line with the findings, to determine its place in our traditional culture, to document it and to transfer this heritage to future generations.
