Özet

Phthalocyanines, whose various derivatives can be synthesized and designed, serve as an effective source for the discovery of new therapeutic agents. Supporting their biological properties will play a decisive role in the active use of these compounds. Firstly, 4-(2-(vinyloxy)ethoxy)phthalonitrile (3) and [tetrakis-(2-(vinyloxy)ethoxy)phthalocyaninato]zinc(II) (4) compounds were synthesized and characterized. Then, investigations were conducted into the biological activity of compounds 3 and 4. According to the data, 4 had good antioxidant activity (66.54% ± 3.57%) and 3 had outstanding antidiabetic activity (97.19% ± 4.96%). Whereas 4 showed one-strand cleavage activity at 62.5 mg/L and fully cleaved DNA at 250 mg/L, 3 exhibited complete cleavage ability on DNA at all concentrations. Both compounds showed antimicrobial activity, but 3 (MICs ranging from 8 to 64 mg/L) was more effective against pathogenic microorganisms than compound 4 (MICs ranging from 32 to 128 mg/L). With photodynamic therapy, the biofilm inhibition activity of 3 against Staphylococcus aureus increased from 86.66% ± 4.58% to 97.12% ± 4.98%, and that of 4 increased from 81.65% ± 4.26% to 90.57% ± 4.74%. The biofilm inhibition activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa increased from 94.13% ± 4.94% to 100% ± 5.62% for 3 and from 89.53% ± 4.76% to 97.81% ± 5.18% for 4. Furthermore, at 25 mg/L, both compounds showed a 100% ± 5.69% inhibition of microbial cell viability. According to the study's findings, 3 and 4 may both be developed further as medicinal treatments, especially photodynamic therapy.
