In Turkish-Islamic architecture, mausoleums, which are places of pilgrimage, are built not only to immortalize respect for the deceased but also as a reflection of belief in the afterlife. Mausoleums, as manifestations of sacred places, hold a special place in the spiritual geography of the Islamic world. Over time, they have become integrated with a multifaceted meaning that transcends mere burial structures, intertwining social memory, faith, and tradition. These structures, where influential figures in society are buried, have been known by various names throughout the Islamic world (such as kümbet, türbe, marabut, türbet, ravza, meşhed, makam, buk’a, darih). In Anatolia, these structures have been referred to as both kümbet and türbe. The group of structures located in Ahlat has also been referred to as both kümbet and türbe in publications. However, in this study, "türbe" has been used. In architecture, writing is a frequently used means of communication. Furthermore, writing, through its content, constitutes the historical memory of its time. Writing, It integrates with the architectural composition along with ornamentation and determines the focal point of the space where it is inscribed. Inscriptions consist of construction, repair, poetic texts, and verses and hadiths. The inscriptions on the seven tombs in Ahlat, which constitute the subject of our study, contain prayer phrases, endowment deeds, verses from the Quran, and hadiths. In the Ahlat tombs examined, besides four prayer phrases, 16 verses from the Quran, three hadiths, and four Bismillahs (in the name of God) were inscribed. Within the scope of this study, the subject matter, meaning, and intended message of the prayer phrases, verses from the Quran, and hadiths found in the Ahlat tomb inscriptions have been evaluated along with their interpretations.
