Abstract

The synthesis of a new phthalonitrile derivative (4-(benzo[d]th iazol-2-yl thio)phthalonitrile), its metal-free phthalocyanine, and rnetallo-phthalocyanines are described. Phthalocyanines a re formed in high yield with template synthesis. These compounds showed considerable solubility in CHCl3, DMF and DMSO, a primary condition for potential applications. The newly synthesized compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses, UV-Visible spectra, IR and H-1-NMR.
