Özet

Schmidt hammer rebound (SHR) test has been used rock mechanic applications as an index test for estimating the compressive strength and the modulus of elasticity (E) of intact rock both in laboratory conditions and in situ. In addition, SHR test is an important method in determining the effect of deterioration on rocks. In this study, the changes of SHR test results on the rocks subjected to deterioration in the laboratory were investigated. For this purpose, different rock samples were selected and accelerated weathering tests (freezing and thawing and salt crystallization cycles) on these rock samples were applied and so deteriorated samples with different degree of decomposition were obtained. As a result, when the SHR values were examined after accelerated weathering tests, it was determined that there was a decrease compared to the undeteriorated samples. When the difference between SHR of deteriorated and undeteriorated samples in this study were compared; the difference was found to be considerably higher for andesite, calcarenite and some limestone because of their physical and chemical properties.
