The physical processes on the surfaces of the dielectric and composite materials were studied under the influence of an electric discharge in media of different gases. It is shown that the effect of an electrical discharge on the surface of the material can significantly change its properties. In addition, the degree of these changes depends on the composition of the gaseous media in which the discharge occurs. It was experimentally found that the decomposition products of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) exposed to an electric discharge form the most active media in a closed volume, while exerting a significant impact on the surface of the materials in contact, thereby altering their physical and chemical properties.
