A study on some fruit characteristics in local fig cultivars grown in Hilvan (Urfa, southern Turkey)

Abstract

This study was carried out on 9 different local fig cultivars grown in Hilvan (Urfa). In our research, the fruits were harvested acid analyzed during the ripening period in 1996. Some physical and chemical characteristics of cultivars were determined. Fruit weight was determined between 9.00-38.37 g, fruit width between 24.4843.60 mm, fruit length between 22.00-39.80 mm, pH between 4.71-5.54, total soluble solid contents between 11.9-24.30% and titratable acidity between 0.13-0.34%. In addition also skin color, internal (pedicel) color, peel thickness' acid skin cracks were investigated.
