It is very important that the seating elements that serve the act of sitting, which isone of the basic needs of the users, are produced by considering the physical structure andstandards of the human being during the design phase. In this study, the seating elementslocated on Maraş Street and Cumhuriyet Street in Van City were examined within the scope ofdesign principles in terms of functionality, aesthetics, material selection, spatial relationship,etc., and alternative design solutions were presented by discussing their positive and negativeaspects. The study area was selected based on the high human circulation and the frequentuse of the designed furniture. It is very important that seating elements, which are the basic building blocks of urban equipment that emerged to realize the act of sitting, which is one of the basic needs of users, are produced by taking into account the physical structure and standards of human beings during the design phase. In this study, the seating elements located on Maraş Street and Cumhuriyet Street of Van province were analyzed in the context of functionality, aesthetics, material selection, spatial relationship, etc. within the scope of design principles, and alternative solution suggestions were presented by discussing the positive and negative aspects.
