Özet

Currently, developed tissue culture methods, successful results can be obtained for many diseases and stress factors. Many common features of potato plants are found in the wild relatives. Potatoes are suitable for propagation with biotechnological methods in terms of their characteristic properties, and it is quite easy to transfer new features using many of the biotechnological transformation techniques used today. For these reasons potato is undoubtedly one of the most useful products of modern biotechnology. Potatoes different colours such as red, blue, pink and purple have been developed using biotechnological methods such as tissue culture methods and anthocyanins (red, blue, purple) and carotenoids (white, yellow) found in wild species and allowing the formation of potatoes in different colours. In this study, the general characteristics of potato plant and the current biotechnological studies on it are addressed and future studies are suggested.
