Özet

In this study, chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal from textile wastewater and Central Composite Design-based numerical optimization of the removal conditions were investigated by the heterogeneous electro-Fenton (HEF) process using BiFeO3-rGO. The regression coefficient for the quadratic model was 0.9770. Optimal conditions were determined as: pH 3.5, applied current 20 A, catalyst dose 1.2 g/L, support electrolyte concentration 0.153 M, and reaction time 80 min. Under optimal conditions, the COD removal yield was 93%. The system's operating cost for removing 1 kg of COD was 192.88 ₺. ·OH was found to be 83% responsible, while ⦁O2− was 7% responsible for COD removal. Removal yields of the catalyst over five cycles were 93%, 87%, 82%, 77%, and 75%, respectively. The HEF process had a synergistic effect (F = 1.286), thereby intensifying the COD removal rate. The BiFeO3-rGO-modified electrode exhibited higher redox peak currents, indicating enhanced electron-transfer characteristics. The electroactive surface area of the modified electrode was approximately 4.3 times greater than that of the bare glassy carbon electrode (GCE), indicating enhanced electroactive site accessibility and intrinsic charge-transfer characteristics of the composite. The results suggest that the catalyst is a promising candidate for removing organic pollutants from textile wastewater and for catalytic applications.
