Medium Income Trap Analysis in the Textile Industry in Turkey (Türkiye’de Tekstil Sektöründe Orta Gelir Tuzağı Analizi)

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’nin tekstil sektöründe orta gelir tuzağında olup olmadığını analiz etmektir. Bu çalışmada amaca yönelik olarak Türkiye’de tekstil sektöründe, Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu’nun (TÜİK) resmi web adresinden 2005-2016 yıllarına göre üretim, istihdam, ihracat ve ithalat verileri alınmıştır. Söz konusu çalışmada elde edilen veriler Eviews 7 programına aktarılıp, programdan grafiklere dökülerek orta gelir tuzağının olup olmadığı incelenmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlara göre, Türkiye’nin tekstil sektöründe orta gelir tuzağında olmadığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuç kısmında orta gelir tuzağına düşmemek için önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

The aim of this study is to analyze whether Turkey is in middle income in the textile sector. For the purpose of this study, production, employment, export and import data were taken in the textile sector in Turkey according to the official web address of Turkish Statistical Institute in 2005-2016. The data obtained in this study were transferred to Eviews 7 program and poured into the graphs of the program to investigate whether there is a middle income or not. According to the results be achieved in the research, it is concluded that Turkey is not in middle income in the textile sector. In the conclusion of study, suggestions were made not to fall into the middle income trap.
