Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the graduate theses conducted in Turkey between 2004 and 2025 on artificial intelligence applications in the field of education and instruction, and to reveal the research trends, intensities, and methodological orientations in this field. This research is survey model was employed as its methodological approach. The priority screening criterion in this study is the theses prepared in the last 21 years in Turkey. In collecting the data, the document review technique was used, and the source of the research was established through criterion sampling. In line with the purpose of the study, a “Graduate Thesis Review Form” was developed by the researcher and all accessible theses were examined based on this form. The research revealed that artificial intelligence-based education research in Turkey has shown a quantitative increase in recent years. The concentration of studies in certain universities points to differences in institutional research capacity. Additionally, the sample preferences demonstrate that researchers predominantly adopted a student- and teacher-centered approach. These results shed light on the development dynamics of the research ecosystem in the field of artificial intelligence–education and offer new research lines for future studies.
