Özet

With the rapid increase in the use of technology, a new one is added to biotechnological methods every day. One of them is CRISPR - Cas technology. CRISPR - Cas (regularly spaced clustered short palindromic repeats - CRISPR-associated proteins) modules are adaptive immune systems encoded by most archaea and many bacteria and act against invading genetic elements such as viruses and plasmids. CRISPR - Cas systems provide resistance to foreign mobile genetic elements and have a wide range of genome editing and biotechnological applications. CRISPR functions as a defense system that bacteria use to protect themselves against attacks from viruses. CRISPRs and Cas proteins provide RNAguided adaptive immunity to microorganisms and offer transformative technological opportunities for programmable genome manipulation. The diversity, modularity and efficiency of CRISPR-Cas systems are creating a biotechnological revolution. RNA-guided Cas enzymes have been adopted as tools to manipulate the genomes of cultured cells, animals and plants, accelerating the pace of basic research and enabling clinical and agricultural breakthroughs. The CRISPR/Cas system is a robust and powerful tool not only for modifying a gene's expression and function, but also for screening, monitoring and regulating those genes. In this study, scientific studies related to CRISPR-Cas systems and their importance in biotechnology are emphasized.
