Özet

Recombinant DNA technology, which is widely used nowadays, changes the genetic structure of many products and has been exported to the market. There have been some concerns as the use of genetically modified crops, which are increasing day by day globally, may have long-term effects on biodiversity and human health. It is necessary to make effective use of these genetically modified to increase yields and to cultivate products resistant to environmental stress factors. The cultivation of transgenic crops in Turkey is prohibited by the biosafety law published in the Official Gazette dated 26 March 2010 and numbered 27533, although planting and sales are free in many countries around the World. But the transgenic products that come to Turkey via import pass through various controls and enter our markets. Within the context of this thesis project, determined qualitative transgene contents of rice and foods derived rice which is one of the mostly produced transgenic in the worldwide. Several sample groups were qualitatively screened by PCR assays based on 35S, NOS and hygromycin resistance gene (hpt) detection, which were used as regulatory sequences in several transgenic lines approved in the European Union. The hpt gene was detected in all four samples. In addition, NOS was also detected in one sample.
