Orthodontic Camouflage Treatment of Skeletal Class III Malocclusion

Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this case report was to present orthodontic camouflage treatment with mandibular bite turbo application without extraction of an adult patient with skeletal Class III malocclusion.

Subject-Method: There was a skeletal Class III malocclusion in an adult female patient whose chronological age was 18 years and 9 months. The patient's examination revealed a slight concave profile, a class III molar relationship, a negative overjet (-3 mm), and an increased overbite (7 mm). Cephalometric analysis revealed skeletal class III malocclusion (ANB: -6 °). Self ligating bracket system (Damon Q) was used and the patient used class III elastic. Anterior cross-bite was overcome by turbo effect of the mandibular bite.

Results: Acceptable aesthetic profile, overjet, overbite and class I relationship were obtained.

Conclusion: The orthodontic treatment of the patient was completed in 1 year and 4 months. Patient had a flat profile at the end of treatment. A class I molar relationship and a positive overjet relationship were obtained.

Amaç: Bu vaka raporunun amacı, iskeletsel sınıf III maloklüzyona sahip erişkin hastada mandibular bite turbo uygulaması ile çekimsiz ortodontik kamuflaj tedavisinin sunulmasıdır.

Birey-Yöntem: Kronolojik yaşı 18 yıl 9 ay olan bayan hastada iskeletsel Sınıf III maloklüzyon bulunmaktadır. Hastanın muayenesinde hafif konkav bir profile sahip olduğu, Angle Sınıf III molar ilişkisinin bulunduğu, negatif overjet’in (- 3mm) ve artmış overbite’ın (7 mm) bulunduğu belirlendi. Sefalometrik analiz sonucunda hastada iskeletsel Sınıf III maloklüzyon (ANB:- 6°) olduğu saptandı. Hastada kapaklı (Damon Q) braket sistemi kullanıldı ve hasta sınıf III elastik kullandı. Anterior çapraz kapanış, mandibuler bite turbo etkisiyle atlatıldı.

Bulgular: Kabul edilebilir estetik profil, overjet, overbite ve sınıf  I ilişki elde edildi.

Sonuç: Hastanın ortodontik tedavisi 1yıl 4 ay kadar kısa bir sürede tamamlandı. Hasta tedavi sonunda düz bir profile sahip oldu. Angle Sınıf I molar ilişki ve pozitif bir overjet ilişkisine ulaşıldı.
