Özet

The concept of Islamic Work Ethics (IWE) refers to the evalution of what is considered right or wrong in working life based on Islamic principles and values. In this context, IWE emphasizes values such as honesty, justice, responsibility, diligence, and social welfare, shaping individuals’ attitudes and behaviors in the workplace. In the field of business and management, emprical studies on work ethics have long been dominated by scales based on the Protestant Work Ethic. However, in recent years , there has been a growing interest in Islamic Work Ethics, particularly in Muslim-majority countries and within institutions operating under participation (Islamic) finance systems. In this study, the long form of the Islamic Work Ethics scale developed by Abbas Ali in 1998, consisting of 46 items, was employed to analyze its effects on job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and turnover intention. The research population consists of employees working in participation banks operating in Türkiye. Data were collected from various cities such as Ankara,Istanbul, and Bursa, where the number of branches and employees is relatively high. A survey method was used as the primary data collection tool. The study adopted a convenience sampling technique, and participation was based on voluntariness. During the data collection process, certain difficulties were encountered due to the heavy workload and long working hours of participation bank employees, which limited their willingness to participate in the survey. Despite these challenges, sufficient data were obtained and subjected to statistical analysis. The findings reveal thagt there is a positive and statistically significant relationship between Islamic Work Ethics and both job satisfaction and organizaitonal commitment. These results suggest that the adoption of Islamic ethical values in the workplace may enhance employees satisfaction with their jobs and strengthen their attachment to their organizations. Additionally, the findings indicate that Islamic Work Ethics may have a negative effect on turnover intention, reducing employees’ intention to leave their jobs. Overall, this study highlights the significant role of Islamic Work Ethics in shapping organizational attitudes and behaviors within value-based financial institutions such as participation banks. The results contribute to the existing literature by providing emprical evidence from the context of Türkiye and offer insights for both researchers and pracititioner sinterested in ethics and organizational behavior.
