Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the chemistry questions in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science achievement tests prepared by the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) within a framework that combines the Essential Questions-Perspectives (EQ-P) framework and Bloom's Taxonomy. Method: In the study, a total of 193 chemistry questions in the achievement tests published by the MoNE were examined in order to reveal the relationship of chemical reasoning with cognitive process and information dimensions. In the research, the content analysis method, a qualitative research method, was used. The chemistry questions were analyzed and coded considering the essential question types within the EQ-P framework (Description and Identification [D&I], Explanation and Prediction [E&P], Transformation and Synthesis [T&S]) and chemical perspectives. The chemistry questions were also analyzed and coded considering the cognitive process and knowledge dimensions of Bloom's Taxonomy. Findings: The results obtained showed that the majority of the chemistry questions prepared by MoNe are related to the E&P category. It has been determined that the questions are largely at the comprehension level. As a result of the research, it was also determined that there were no questions related to the T&S category. The most frequently identified perspectives are the particle (P) perspective and the composition (C) perspective. Conclusion: The results of this research indicate that using the EQ-P framework and Bloom's Taxonomy together proves beneficial in simultaneously revealing the cognitive and reasoning dimensions of chemistry questions.
