Effects of simulation-based spiritual care training using standardized patients on nursing students’ competence, empathy, and stress: A mixed-methods study

Özet
Background: Spiritual care is an essential component of holistic nursing. This study evaluated the effects of simulation-based spiritual care training using standardized patients on nursing students’ competence, empathy, and perceived stress. Methods: A concurrent mixed-methods study was conducted with 52 nursing students randomly assigned to intervention or control groups. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected. Results: The intervention group showed significant improvements in competence, empathy, and stress. Qualitative findings identified three themes reflecting students’ learning experiences. Conclusions: Simulation-supported spiritual care training effectively enhances nursing students’ competence, empathy, and stress management, supporting its integration into nursing education.
