The study was carried out to investigate whether plant growth regulators (PGRs) could affect carbohydrate, protein and lipid metabolism in liver and muscle tissues. Forty-eight Sprague-Dawley albino rats were divided into four experimental groups; control and PGR-treated [indole acetic acid (IAA), indole butyric acid (IBA) and kinetin (Kn)]. 100 ppm of PGRs was administered orally to 12 rats ad libitum for 25 days continuously. The PGR treatments caused different effects on the level of protein, glycogen and lipid in comparison to those of control rats.
