This study aims to investigate the relationship between the cash advance transactions made using credit cards and the net profit of banks in Türkiye through a time series analysis. The period analyzed is from January 2015 to March 2024. The analysis employed the following methods: the Fractional-Frequency Fourier Augmented Dickey-Fuller unit root test, the Fractional-Frequency Fourier Autoregressive Distributive Lag cointegration test, and the Fractional-Frequency Fourier Toda-Yamamoto causality test. The cointegration test findings indicate that a 1% increase in the cash advance transaction amount made from credit cards leads to a long term increase of 0.88% and a short term increase of 1.04% in the net profit amount of banks. The findings of the cointegration test are further supported by the findings of the causality test. Consequently, the increase in credit card transactions decreases the informal economy. However, utilizing credit cards for their designated purpose is crucial to prevent potential problems.
