Özet

One of the most important methods of bringing the main aim of the Turkish course is the

textbooks. The literary texts in the textbooks are one of the important methods of teaching

language skills. The texts in the books contribute to the development of the mother tongue skills

of the students. However, the quality of the text may contribute more than expected.

Types of texts in the textbooks, various information about the features that should be found in

the texts are given in the Turkish course programs and the criteria related to them are

determined. However, it is also necessary to refer to the opinions of teacher and teacher

candidates who will undertake important assignments or assume responsibility for the

application of the features and types of texts that must be found in books.

The aim of this research is to apply the views of teacher and teacher candidates about the

features that should be found in the texts to be included in Turkish textbooks and how to

classify the text types. In the light of these opinions, it is to reveal the opinions of teacher and

teacher candidates about the features and text types of texts to be included in Turkish textbooks.

The research was conducted with teacher candidates who worked at different schools in Van

province center in April 2018 and who were studying in the Department of Turkish Language

Teaching at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University.

A document review method based on a qualitative research approach was used in the research.

The data collection survey papers of the research are structured interview forms with 30 Turkish

teachers and 100 Turkish teachers' department students. In the analysis of the data, qualitative

research data analysis included content analysis.
