Prof. Zehra Ekin

Biography

Zehra Ekin, MD is an Professor at Van Yüzüncü Yil University Faculty of Agriculture, and is member of the Field Crops Sciences Society, of Turkey. Dr. Ekin has over 50 scientific papers and projects either presented or published. She is an internationally recognized expert in many areas of field crops including Oil and Starch Crops, Plant Growing Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR), Organic Farming, Aromatic Plants and Energy Crops. Recent publications include a paper on the use of PGPR for promoting yields in oil and starch plants. Dr. Ekin is Field Crops Department at Agriculture Faculty where she routinely lectures on various topics related to field crops. Dr. Ekin has been awarded the IX. Field Crops Congress Best Poster Presentation Award with Commendation. She has served as a member of various national and scientific societies and acted on a number of institutional committees including the International Agricultural Science Congress Committee, Scientific Thesis Committee, Faculty Quality Committee and Turkish Red Crescent. Dr. Ekin is recognized by her peers as a Scientific expert that integrates PGPR technologies into field crops practice and try various organic farming technics on yield and quality characters of oil and starch crops. Dr. Ekin has been investigating the effectiveness and utility of N-fixing and phosphor solubilizing bacteria in especially safflower and potato crops for the past two years. Dr. Ekin holds a BS with highest honors in Field Crops from Van Yüzüncü Yil University, Agriculture Faculty and an MD from Van Yüzüncü Yil University, Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences.
