Studied Political Sciences, Arts Management and Modern Turkish History at Bosphorus University, Istanbul Kültür University and Yıldız Technical University respectively. Involved in various dance contexts as a 'folk' dancer, choreographer, instructor, dramaturg, critic, and researcher since the mid 90's.
Gave lectures on modern Turkish history, history of performing arts and applied dance courses in different universities in Istanbul and Kocaeli. In 2017, published a book on the history and politics of folk dance choreographies in Turkey. Writings have appeared in peer reviewed and WOS indexed journals including Dance Chronicle and Dance Research.
Makes interdisciplinary studies of dance in historical and socio-political contexts. Analyzes dance aesthetics through the lens of the social sciences. Participates in ICTMD symposiums since 2014. Works as dramaturge in movement-based performative projects.
