Özet

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of speech education activities / techniques developed by the researcher on Turkish speaking skills.

The study was conducted according to quantitative research method. Experimental design with control group based on pre-test and post-test measurements was used in the study. The working groups of the study consisted of the students of a middle school in Bitlis, where students of Arabic origin were educated. Twenty of the students were the experimental group and 18 were the control group. While the speech activities developed by the researcher were applied to the students in the experimental group, speech training was given to the curriculum in the control group.

The applications were carried out in Turkish lessons for 10 weeks in the spring semester of 2017-2018 academic year. Effective Speech Scale was used to evaluate the pre-test and post-test data. The scale was filled in the classroom in the pre-test post-test applications, while the students were talking about the identified topic. Three independent assessors completed the scale during the pre-post test. The analyzes were performed by averaging the scores given by the three evaluators.Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 20.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences 20.0) package program, which is used in quantitative researches. In the study, parametric tests were used to analyze the data obtained from pre-test and post-test applications.According to this; veya Independent Samples t-Test ”statistic was used to determine pre-post-test differences between experimental and control groups.As a result of the experimental processes, it was concluded that the speech education studies conducted with student-centered speaking activities / techniques positively affected the success of Turkish speaking skills of bilingual students of Arabic origin.
